Dale Arthur Hay­wood Sr., 74, of Colora, MD, passed away peace­fully to be with his Lord on Satur­day, July 23, 2016, at home sur­rounded by fam­ily.

Dale was born 19 Jan­uary 1942 in Tra­verse City, MI, to the late Ge­orge E. and Wanetta J. Hay­wood. He mar­ried his beloved wife of 50+ years, Sally Ann (Put­nam) on Aug. 5, 1965 in Bel Air, MD.

Dale en­listed in the U.S. Army at age 17 in the year 1959. He com­pleted three tours in Viet­nam, one in Korea and two in Ger­many. He was hon­or­ably dis­charged as a dec­o­rated Chief War­rant Of­fi­cer (CW2) and was be­stowed many medals in­clud­ing a Bronze Star. Af­ter the Army, his ser­vice con­tin­ued full-time in the U.S. Nat’l Guard and Civil Ser­vice, un­til his re­tire­ment in 2001. He also op­er­ated his own small engine re­pair shop. He en­joyed time in his shop, travel in his mo­torhome, fish­ing and most of all — time with fam­ily.

Dale is sur­vived by his wife, Sally Ann, and is fa­ther to Dale Jr. and wife Heather, Mal­lie K. and wife Betty Jo, and An­thony R. and wife
