Liberals on the wrong side of issues

Cecil Whig - - OPINION -

FROM: DAVID E. BOWER NORTH EAST

While watching the DNC convention, I was struck by the gap between Democrats and their perceived enemies, all conservatives. To them we are worse than radical Islamic terrorists. “The enemy of my enemy is my friend”.

Because we want them eradicated, the terrorists must be doing something right. Attorney General Loretta Lynch’s solution to Islamic terrorism is to treat them with “love.” Secretary of State John Kerry thinks refrigerators and air conditioners are bigger threats. Is this a world turned upside down or what?

Immigration? According to the liberals, the more illegal aliens in our country, the better. No matter how much it costs our country, they represent Democratic votes. If the conservatives object, just paint them as racists.

The police? To conservatives, the police are the only thing standing between society and utter chaos. To liberals, the police are evil through and through (one bad cop represents all).

Voting? Liberals think photo IDs make it too difficult to vote and is unfair, this in a country where you have to show identification to acquire a library card.

Abortion? To a pro-life conservative, a child in the womb is a holy, wondrous miracle of God and certainly not to be interrupted at any point in the baby’s journey. To a pro-choice liberal, the baby is just an aggravation, an accident to be “fixed” in case of careless sexual behavior. Mrs. Clinton is supposedly a children’s advocate but a child’s biggest challenge is simply making it out of the womb. Her vice presidential pick is prochoice but he is said to be against abortion. This is a contradiction in terms. If Mr. Kaine is pro-choice, he wants abortion to continue. He obviously thinks being pro-choice is a neutral position. It’s not. In my mind, it’s a coward’s position.

The military? Conservatives think a strong military is the only path to peace. Enemies have to respect you. To liberals, it’s merely a place to try social experiments such as allowing every one to use whatever bathroom they so desire.

Liberals and conservatives do have one thing in common. Each think the other is destroying our country. The coming election I consider the most crucial in my 74-year-old lifetime. God help us if Hillary wins!
