Ralph L. Smith, Sr., age 89, of Newark, DE, went home to be with the Lord on Thurs­day, July 28, 2016, sur­rounded by his loved ones. Born in Elk­ton, MD, on Jan­uary 30, 1927, he was the son of the late Del­mar and Grace Jan­ney Smith.

A life­long dairy farmer, Mr. Smith and his late wife loved work­ing to­gether on their farm. His fa­vorite pas­time was sit­ting on his porch and vis­it­ing with his many friends.

Sur­vivors in­clude his lov­ing chil­dren, Ralph “Smitty” Smith, Jr. and Marcy Bow­man, Newark, DE, Janet Camp­bell, Elsmere, DE, and Sydney Mat­son and hus­band, Charles, Newark, DE; grand­chil­dren, Frances Mi­ick and Jesse Krauss; great-grand­chil­dren, Shawna Pusey and Justin and Jazzmyn Mi­ick; brother, Jackie Smith, Rich­mond, VA and aunt, Hazel Lan­ton, Grove Neck, MD.

In ad­di­tion to his par­ents, Mr. Smith was pre­ceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy R. Smith.

Funeral ser­vice will be held at 1 p.m., Tues­day, Au­gust 2, 2016, at Hicks Home for Fu­ner­als, 103 W. Stock­ton Street, Elk­ton, MD, where visi­ta­tion will be­gin at 11:30 a.m. In­ter­ment will be in Cherry Hill Methodist Ceme­tery, Cherry Hill, MD.

In ad­di­tion to his par­ents, he was pre­ceded in death by his beloved wife, Lu­cille Lee (Thomp­son) (Eanes) Wohner and sons, Jimmy Fra­zier Eanes and Billy Wohner. John is sur­vived by his chil­dren, June Martin of Jasper, GA, Sonny Wayne Eanes of Elk­ton, MD and Deb­o­rah Dide­hvar of Bear, DE; and many grand­chil­dren and great grand­chil­dren.

A funeral ser­vice will be held at 11 am on Thurs­day morn­ing, Au­gust 4, 2016, at the Spicer-Mul­likin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a visi­ta­tion for fam­ily and friends will be held from 10 am un­til 11 am. In­ter­ment will fol­low in Im­mac­u­late Con­cep­tion Ceme­tery, Cherry Hill, MD.
