Born in Bethlehem, PA on December 2, 1917, John was the son of the late John and Agnes M. (Marics) Wohner, who immigrated to the United States from AustriaHungary in 1913. The family moved to West Virginia when he was a young boy and he was proud of the deep roots his family established there. John bravely served his country as a member of the US Army during WWII and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He spent most of his career working as a coal miner and would later accept a position with NVF after moving to Maryland.

An avid outdoorsman, John spent many happy hours hunting and fishing. He had a keen interest in both farming and gardening, excelling at both. A devoted and loving husband,

WOHNER
