Joanne R. Sheffler, of Havre de Grace, MD, died Fri­day, July 29, 2016 at Har­ford Memo­rial Hospi­tal. She was 81.

Born in Har­ford County, she was the daugh­ter of the late Harry and Dorothy (Grafton) Sim­mons and wife of the late Guy Sheffler who died in 1998.

Mrs. Sheffler was the for­mer owner of Grumpy’s Bar and Grille in Aberdeen. She was a mem­ber of the Havre de Grace VFW and the Perryville Amer­i­can Le­gion. She loved to cook and bring peo­ple to­gether.

She is sur­vived by her sons; Larry Sim­mons of An­napo­lis, Asa Swan of Mil­lville, NJ, Ted Jones of Havre de Grace and Tim Jones of Havre de Grace; daugh­ters, Vickie Keith­ley of Abing­don, Cherie Baker of San Diego, CA, and Deb­bie Johns of Charlestown, MD; brother, Wil­liam Sim­mons of For­est Hill; sis­ters, He­len Cor­nett of Havre de Grace, Velma Noonkester of For­est Hill and Jean Whitzell of Perryville; 12 grand­chil­dren and eight great grand­chil­dren. In ad­di­tion to her par­ents and hus­band, she was pre­de­ceased by her brother, David Sim­mons.

A memo­rial ser­vice con­ducted by Pas­tor Nor­man Oben­shain will be held at the Tar­ring-Cargo Fu­neral Home on Thurs­day, Au­gust 4 at 4 p.m. with a vis­i­ta­tion to fol­low un­til 8 p.m.
