Guy Lee Pow­ers, 84, of Ris­ing Sun, MD, passed away peace­fully on July 29, 2016 at his home. Born on July 23, 1932 in Lans­ing, NC, he was the son of the late Saul P. Pow­ers and Clyde Hart.

Af­ter proudly serv­ing his coun­try in the U.S. Army dur­ing the Korean Con­flict, Guy worked as a painter for the U.S. Gov­ern­ment for many years re­tir­ing from the fa­cil­i­ties group at the United States Naval Academy in An­napo­lis. He was a mem­ber of VFW 8185 of Port De­posit, MD, and the Amer­i­can Legion Post 194 of Ris­ing Sun, MD. Guy had many hob­bies, in­clud­ing, hunt­ing, fish­ing, play­ing horse­shoes, and shoot­ing (es­pe­cially turkey shoots); and he es­pe­cially loved his Bea­gles.

Guy is sur­vived by two daugh­ters: Shelly Bar­rett and her hus­band, Steve, of Colora, MD, and Sharon Jenk­ins of Ris­ing Sun, MD; four grand­chil­dren: Ste­fanie Bar­rett of Is­lam­orada, FL, Tif­fanie Hunts­man and her hus­band, Steve, of Colora, MD, Chisa Jenk­ins of Elk­ton, and Barry Lane Jenk­ins Jr. of Elk­ton; and four great­grand­chil­dren.

In ad­di­tion to his par­ents, Guy is pre­ceded in death by his wife, Emma Frances Pow­ers; daugh­ter, San­dra Pow­ers; son-in-law, Barry Lane Jenk­ins Sr.; and two brothers, Nor­man Pow­ers and Ed­die Adams.

A Ser­vice will be held at 11 a.m. on Satur­day, Au­gust 6 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 111 South Queen St., Ris­ing Sun, MD 21911. Friends and fam­ily may visit one hour prior be­gin­ning at 10 a.m. Burial will fol­low at Cal­vary Bap­tist Ceme­tery.
