Ruth Hiob Sis­som

Ruth Hiob Sis­som, 92, en­tered into our Lord’s em­brace on Au­gust 15, 2016, at home in Port De­posit, Mary­land with fam­ily by her side.

She was born Novem­ber 9, 1923 in Bal­ti­more City, Mary­land to the late Charles G. Hiob Sr. and Bertha Kreafle Hiob. Ruth, as a young woman at­tended Eastern High School and Strayer Busi­ness School. She then re­lo­cated to Aberdeen, where she would later meet and marry Billy D. Sis­som Sr., a dash­ing young Sec­ond Lieu­tenant from Texas, sta­tioned at the Aberdeen Prov­ing Grounds.

Ruth was a de­voted mother and wife, rais­ing their two chil­dren, Billy Jr. and Ja­nis Kay. She was known to be a nur­tur­ing au­thor­ity fig­ure to scores of her chil­dren’s friends that made the Sis­som res­i­dence a sec­ond home and was fondly re­ferred to as “Su­garbabe.”
