Voice opposition to your council

Cecil Whig - - OPINION -

After attending a recent Citizens’ Corner meeting, I was shocked and disappointed. A packed room came to voice their opposition to the proposed chicken factory. How can our county allow Perdue to come in and take over like this?

If one more person tries to tell us 200,000 chickens won’t contaminate the water, won’t pollute the air and will only smell a little, how naive do they think we are? Oh wait, that is all the agencies lining up to make Cecil County the new chicken capital. This kind of operation may or may not be necessary, but not in the middle of hundreds of homes.

Farms are the heart of Cecil County, but this is not family farming it is industrial scale agriculture. Even if it is all sunshine and roses like Perdue says, who is going to make sure all the rules and regulations are followed? Oh, we don’t seem to have any, that is why Perdue wants in!

Before it is too late get involved, do some research and let your County Council know what you think!
