3 things to do this week
Go for a run Voices of Hope for Cecil County, a recovery advocacy and support group, will hold a 5K race on Saturday in Perryville Town Park. Registration begins at 4 p.m. and the race starts at 5:30 p.m. Registration is $10 for those 13 and under, $20 for those 14 and older, and free for those under three and all proceeds go toward the creation of the group’s first recovery community center. Runners can pre-register at active.com or sign up on the day of the race.
Make a donation Students in the North East Middle School National Junior Honor Society are collecting school supplies to help students affected by the flooding in West Virginia. The students hope to fill a U-Haul with supplies such as paper, crayons, pencils, markers, binders, tissues, book bags, Clorox wipes and composition books.
Supplies can be dropped off at North East Middle School between 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. next Tuesday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Aug. 27 and from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Aug. 29 through Sept. 1. While you’re out shopping for your own school supplies, pick up some extras for students in need.
