Go for a run Voices of Hope for Ce­cil County, a re­cov­ery ad­vo­cacy and sup­port group, will hold a 5K race on Satur­day in Per­ryville Town Park. Reg­is­tra­tion be­gins at 4 p.m. and the race starts at 5:30 p.m. Reg­is­tra­tion is $10 for those 13 and un­der, $20 for those 14 and older, and free for those un­der three and all pro­ceeds go to­ward the cre­ation of the group’s first re­cov­ery com­mu­nity cen­ter. Run­ners can pre-reg­is­ter at ac­ or sign up on the day of the race.

Make a do­na­tion Stu­dents in the North East Mid­dle School Na­tional Ju­nior Honor So­ci­ety are col­lect­ing school sup­plies to help stu­dents af­fected by the flood­ing in West Vir­ginia. The stu­dents hope to fill a U-Haul with sup­plies such as pa­per, crayons, pencils, mark­ers, binders, tis­sues, book bags, Clorox wipes and com­po­si­tion books.

Sup­plies can be dropped off at North East Mid­dle School be­tween 8 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. next Tues­day through Fri­day, from 9 a.m. to noon on Satur­day, Aug. 27 and from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Aug. 29 through Sept. 1. While you’re out shop­ping for your own school sup­plies, pick up some ex­tras for stu­dents in need.
