William Rodney Kennedy Sr.
William Rodney Kennedy, Sr., age 90, of Elkton, MD, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2016. Born in Elkton on May 9, 1926, he was the son of the late Alfred W. and Lucy McClain Kennedy.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Kennedy retired as a district manager for ACME Markets after 40 years of service. He was a member of VFW Post #8175, Elkton, and enjoyed bowling, gardening and walking.
Survivors include his children, Jeanie Black, Wilmington, DE, and Billy Kennedy, Jr., Elkton, MD; sister, Joan Scott, Elkton, MD; grandchildren, Jason Black, Neomi Kennedy, Hannah Kennedy and Billy Kennedy, III; and 5 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Kennedy was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Irma R. Kennedy; and siblings, Edward Kennedy, Katherine Coulbourne, Doris Harris Stanton, James Kennedy and Margaret Craig.
Funeral service will held at 2 p.m., Friday, August 26, 2016, at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton, MD 21921, where visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Interment with military honors will be in Gilpin Manor Memorial Park, Elkton.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, in care of the funeral home at the above address.
