Earla R. Dol­lenger

Earla R. Dol­lenger, 88, of Ris­ing Sun, MD, passed away peace­fully on Thurs­day, Au­gust 25, 2016.

Born Sept. 26, 1927 in Lewisville, PA, Earla was the daughter of the late Jahue and Lou Vicy (Webb) Rakes. Earla drove a school bus in her early years and worked at the Ris­ing Sun sewing fac­tory where she met her lov­ing hus­band, Irvin.

She re­tired as a nurse’s aide af­ter a 20 year ca­reer with Calvert Manor Nurs­ing Home. She was a mem­ber of Grace Bible Church. She was a great seam­stress and could sew any­thing. She was known as the “Bear Lady” and was a “true Proverbs 31” woman. Her most cher­ished mo­ments were those spent with her lov­ing fam­ily.

Earla is sur­vived by her son, Fred Dol­lenger and wife, Cindy; daughter, Betty Lou Lang and hus­band, Orville; five grand­chil­dren: Kenneth Lang and wife Michelle; Jay Lang and wife, Lynn; Judy Franklin and Pre­ston; Lori Nor­ris and hus­band, Lon­nie; Steven Dol­lenger and wife, Lau­ren; 14 great grand­chil­dren; and her brother, Earl Rakes.

In­clud­ing her par­ents, Earla was pre­ceded in death by her hus­band, A. Irvin Dol­lenger and 12 sib­lings.

A vis­i­ta­tion will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thurs­day, Septem­ber 1 at R.T. Foard Fu­neral Home, P.A., 111 S. Queen St., Ris­ing Sun, MD 21911. A cel­e­bra­tion of Earla’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Fri­day, Septem­ber 2 at the fu­neral home, where fam­ily and friends may visit be­gin­ning at 10 a.m. Burial will fol­low at Rose­bank Ceme­tery.
