Joan V. Nadeau, 79, of Welling­ton, FL, and North East, MD, passed away sud­denly on Mon­day, Au­gust 29, 2016.

Born in Hamlin, ME, on Oct. 12, 1936, she was the daugh­ter of the late Pa­trick D. and Marie (Vi­o­lette) Par­ent.

Mrs. Nadeau earned her Bach­e­lor’s De­gree from West Vir­ginia Univer­sity and her Master’s from the Univer­sity of Delaware, both in English Ed­u­ca­tion.

She loved teach­ing. Dur­ing her ca­reer, she taught English as a Sec­ond Lan­guage at the Writ­ing Cen­ter at the Univer­sity of DE and at the Adult Ed­u­ca­tion Cen­ter in Green­wich, CT.

Mrs. Nadeau was an active mem­ber of the North East Women’s Civic League. She loved read­ing, es­pe­cially tech­ni­cal books and nov­els and was flu­ent in French.

A lov­ing, car­ing per­son, she en­joyed doting on her fam­ily and dear friends.

Sur­vivors in­clude her beloved hus­band of 59 years: Dr. Richard Nadeau; one daugh­ter: Karen McCa­mant and hus­band Kevin of Wash­ing­ton, DC; two sis­ters: Ar­lene Welch, Clare Sher­lock and one brother: Elmer Par­ent; four grand­chil­dren: Ian McCa­mant, Amanda Nadeau, Emma McCa­mant and Mon­ica Nadeau; and her daugh­terin-law: An­gela.

In ad­di­tion to her par­ents, she was also pre­ceded in death by a son: Richard G. Nadeau Jr.; and two broth-
