Rising Sun has already scrimmaged last year’s 3A and 4A state champions— Northern High School (Calvert County) and Northwest High School (Montgomery County), respectively. The Tigers will also square off against privateschool power Our Lady of Good Counsel (Montgomery County), and Delaware Military Academy, an undefeated state championship team last season.
“DMA gave us our only loss last season, so that is the game of the year for us,” Wilson
said. “So, before we have any of the conference matches, we will be pretty well vetted by some top-flight competition.”
With so much firepower coming back from an alreadydominant team, the expectations are sky high.
“I think everybody expects another state championship,” he said. “We don’t focus on that, but it’s in the back of everybody’s mind. We are at a level that I don’t think I’ve ever coached at before. You are going to see us do things that we have never done in my 17 years here.”
For a coach with 10 region titles and three state titles under his belt, that is really saying something.
