Gun­men rob two county stores

— A gun­man wear­ing a “cos­tume beard” robbed a con­ve­nience store near Elk­ton early Tues­day morn­ing, some 52 hours after an armed rob­bery oc­curred at a shop in North East, po­lice re­ported.

The most re­cent holdup took place at the Wawa in the 1600 block of Elk­ton Road ( Route 279) about 12: 45 a. m. Tues­day, when a man walked into the busi­ness, bran­dished a hand­gun and then de­manded cash and cig­a­rettes from the clerk, ac­cord­ing to the Mary­land State Po­lice.

After the em­ployee handed him an undis­closed sum of cash, the ban­dit fled from the store on foot, po­lice added.

In ad­di­tion to wear­ing a fake black beard, the rob­ber was clad in a plaid shirt, dark pants and a gray cap, ac­cord­ing to po­lice. The sus­pect is de­scribed as be­ing a white man in his late teens to mid- 20s, po­lice re­ported.

The first armed rob­bery oc­curred about 8: 20 p. m. Sun­day at the Stop- N- Go store in the unit block
