Kevin A. Sel­ner, 45, of Wilm­ing­ton, DE, passed away un­ex­pect­edly on Tues­day, Septem­ber 20, 2016. He is the son of Robert and Vir­ginia Sel­ner of Elk­ton, MD.

Kevin earned his Bach­e­lor’s De­gree in Hu­man Re­sources and Busi­ness Man­age­ment from Wilm­ing­ton Univer­sity. Through­out his ca­reer, he held man­age­rial and lead­er­ship po­si­tions. He was em­ployed for 15 years with Dis­cover Fi­nan­cial Ser­vices, where he served as a project man­ager, and was a di­rec­tor of op­er­a­tions with Com­cast Cor­po­ra­tion for six years.

Kevin was a ded­i­cated sup­porter of the Na­tional Brain Tu­mor So­ci­ety (NBTS). He vol­un­teered count­less hours as co-chair­man of the NBTS Delaware Walk, and was in­stru­men­tal in found­ing and lead­ing the “Won­der Woman Joey Tour”, which sup­ported and hon­ored his late wife, Joey. Kevin also or­ga­nized and man­aged a va­ri­ety of fundrais­ing events for the NBTS.

Kevin was a mem­ber of St. Thomas the Apos­tle Par­ish, the Knights of Colum­bus and a life­time mem­ber of the Elk­ton United Methodist Church. He also en­joyed mem­ber­ships with the Notre Dame Fan Club of Delaware, the New Cas­tle County Ir­ish So­ci­ety, and the Park­way West Historic Ban­croft Park­way As­so­ci­a­tion.

As a youth, Kevin loved lit­tle league, bas­ket­ball and bowl­ing where he scored many a 700 se­ries. His great­est love was that of be­ing with peo­ple. He sim­ply loved fam­ily end­lessly, and al­ways brought a cheer to ev­ery­one who ever met him.

His beloved wife, Joann “Joey” Out­ten, passed away on Sept. 26, 2013.

Kevin will be dearly missed by his par­ents, Robert and Vir­ginia (Barnes) Sel­ner; his Mom Mom, Vir­ginia Barnes Salerno; his sis­ter, Che­mayne Larsen (Dou­glas); his niece and nephew, Samantha and Chris­tian Larsen; and his clos­est, dear­est friend, Liz Pic­cir­illi, who is a “mem­ber of the fam­ily”. Kevin is also sur­vived by many aunts, un­cles and cousins.

He was pre­de­ceased by his brother, Michael Joseph Chelf; his grand­fa­ther, Harry D. Barnes Sr.; and his grand­par­ents, Leroy and Flo­rence Sel­ner.

Friends are in­vited to the vis­i­ta­tion at St. Thomas the Apos­tle Church, 4th Street and Ban­croft Park­way, Wilm­ing­ton, on Wed­nes­day, Septem­ber 28 from 10:30-11:45 a.m. A Mass of Chris­tian Burial will be cel­e­brated at 12 p.m. In­ter­ment will be held pri­vately.

Fam­ily and friends are in­vited to at­tend the grave­side ser­vice at 11 a.m., Satur­day, Oc­to­ber 1, 2016, in Elk­ton Ceme­tery, Howard Street, Elk­ton, MD.
