Re­becca Lynn Duffy

Re­becca Lynn (Pep­per) Duffy, a long-time res­i­dent of Elkton, MD, passed away Fri­day mor n i n g , Septem­ber 23, 2016 at her home in Elkton, fol­low­ing a nearly twoyear fight with breast can­cer.

Born Novem­ber 2, 1949 in Rhinelander, WI, she moved with her fam­ily to the Wilm­ing­ton, DE, area where she was raised. Af­ter grad­u­at­ing from Brandy­wine High School and Univer­sity of Delaware where she ob­tained a Bach­e­lor’s de­gree in El­e­men­tary Ed­u­ca­tion, Becky be­gan her teach­ing ca­reer with the Ce­cil County Pub­lic School sys­tem. Later fin­ish­ing a Mas­ter’s de­gree at UD, she taught for 30 years with CCPS, teach­ing sec­ond graders for the vast ma­jor­ity of her ca­reer. Fol­low­ing her re­tire­ment from the school sys­tem, Becky spent time work­ing for the Dance Sta­tion as well as vol­un­teer­ing with the Ce­cil Dance Theatre.

Becky loved read­ing, es­pe­cially his­tor­i­cal fic­tion fo­cus­ing on the Civil War time pe­riod. She also en­joyed jig­saw puz­zles, do­ing counted cross-stitch, knit­ting, car­ing for her cats and fish, and play­ing games on her iPad. Serv­ing as the his­to­rian for her fam­ily, Becky snapped and cat­a­loged nu­mer­ous pho­to­graphs as well as spent sig­nif­i­cant time dig­ging deep into her fam­ily tree – some­thing she greatly en­joyed.
