Emma Louise Gray, age 81, of Elk­ton, MD, passed away on Mon­day, Septem­ber 26, 2016. Born in Philadel­phia, PA, on Novem­ber 5, 1934, she was the daugh­ter of Thomas C. and Vi­o­let Milnes Gray.

Emma’s fam­ily soon moved to Newark, DE, where she con­tin­ued to live for most of her life. She grad­u­ated from Newark High School in 1952. Emma worked as an ad­min­is­tra­tive as­sis­tant for the Dean of the Col­lege of Busi­ness and Eco­nom­ics at the Univer­sity of Delaware. She was a pas­sion­ate ad­vo­cate of equal rights for women dur­ing her ten­ure. She re­tired in 1991.

Emma was a lov­ing and de­voted grand­mother to her seven grand­chil­dren. She loved read­ing, gar­den­ing, and trav­el­ing, es­pe­cially to France, where she spent three years in her youth. C’est la vie!

She is sur­vived by her chil­dren, David S. Ge­orge and wife, Cindy, Elk­ton,
