La­bor Sec­re­tary vis­its col­lege’s CDL train­ing pro­gram

— As Maryland Sec­re­tary of La­bor, Li­cens­ing and Reg­is­tra­tion Kelly Schulz fin­ished up a dis­cus­sion with some stu­dents in Ce­cil Col­lege’s Truck Driver Train­ing Pro­gram, she had one last ques­tion.

“Should I tr y the sim­u­la­tor?” she asked the group of about a dozen stu­dents dur­ing her visit to the Elkton Sta­tion Cam­pus on Mon­day af­ter­noon.

The class re­sponded en­thu­si­as­ti­cally and a few min­utes later, Schulz found her­self at the wheel of the col­lege’s truck driv­ing sim­u­la­tor. Housed in a small room on the third floor of the Elkton Sta­tion build­ing, the sim­u­la­tor looks like a more au­then­tic ver­sion of an ar­cade rac­ing game with a steer­ing wheel, dash­board, ped­als and three video screens show­ing the front and side views.
