Elkton house raid nets ‘crack’ cocaine, one arrest
— A man is facing drug charges after investigators raided his Elkton residence and confiscated approximately a half ounce of “crack” cocaine, drug paraphernalia and small amounts of powder cocaine and marijuana, police reported.
The raid occurred at a residence in the 100 block of Hollingsworth Manor about 1 p.m. Thursday, culminating an investigation that started in early August after members of Elkton Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit received information regarding drug dealing that had been occurring at that house, according to Capt. Joseph Zurolo, an EPD spokesman.
Investigators identified the occupant of that house as 25-year-old Tyree Nathaniel McManus, who is charged with possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute and three related offenses, police said.
McManus, who is scheduled for an Oct. 31 preliminary hearing, is free on a $50,000 bond that he posted shortly after his arrest, ac-
cording to Cecil County District Court records.
After arriving to conduct the courtapproved search, officers found McManus lying on a bed in the master bedroom, where they took him into custody without incident, court records show.
Also in that master bedroom, searchers found crack cocaine and marijuana inside a top dresser drawer and jar of money in a bottom dresser drawer, court records allege. Court documents do not specify the sum of the money and the amount of marijuana seized. EPD officials could not be reached late Monday afternoon for that information.
In addition, investigators found baggies of crack cocaine and powder cocaine inside McManus’ pants pocket and, while searching the kitchen, they seized a digital scale that showed “traces” of crack cocaine, according to court records.
Searchers confiscated a total of 15 grams of crack cocaine and 1 gram of cocaine, court records show.
“This arrest is the product of the Elkton Police Depart- ment’s continuing high enforcement effort to reduce the drug activity in this area and throughout the Town of Elkton,” Zurolo said, adding, “Investigations into this type activity are ongoing and more arrests are expected.”
