Sa­man­tha Ni­cole Roark, “Sam,” of Still Pond, died Oct. 1, 2016. She was 21.

Born in Ch­ester­town on June 23, 1995, Sam is sur­vived by her lov­ing par­ents, Ron­ald M. and Lori A. Roark of Still Pond; broth­ers Ron­nie Roark Jr. of Still Pond, Joshua (An­gela) Roark of Gainesville, Va., Jon Roark of Kennedyville and Robert Nun­ley of In­di­anapo­lis, Ind.; sis­ter Linda Roark of Wor­ton; her ma­ter­nal grand­mother, Alice Jo Cochran of Elkton; and pa­ter­nal grand­mother Rose Yar­bro of Mid­dle­town, Del.

Sam was a 2013 grad­u­ate of Kent County High School and she lived her short life to the fullest with many pas­sion­ate ac­com­plish­ments. As a year-round ath­lete, she ex­celled in field hockey, basketball and softball.

Fol­low­ing grad­u­a­tion, she was in her sec­ond year at Ce­cil Col­lege. She worked with Aquafit as a life­guard and swim in­struc­tor, as well as the front desk, al­ways ready to greet you with a smile. She was CPR cer­ti­fied and a Cer­ti­fied Pool In­struc­tor. She also worked at Tolch­ester Ma­rina, both with the ma­rina and at the Shanty Restau­rant and bar. Sam also en­joyed the out­doors, hunt­ing and fish­ing. Sam was a diehard Ravens fan and loved the Ori­oles.

Her fam­ily was para­mount. She adored her cousins, nieces, neph­ews and loved her friends. Sam was a straight shooter, lov­ing, strong willed, con­sid­er­ate and had a huge heart that will be missed be­yond mea­sure.

In lieu of flow­ers, the fam­ily is ask­ing for do­na­tions to be made to the Sa­man­tha Roark Memo­rial Fund through The Peo­ple’s Bank to help with fu­neral costs.

Fu­neral ser­vices will be held at 1 p.m. Fri­day, Oct. 7, at Fel­lows, Helfen­bein & New­nam Fu­neral Home, 130 Speer Road, Ch­ester­town, where rel­a­tives and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thurs­day, Oct. 6. In­ter­ment will be in Still Pond Ceme­tery.
