Thomas Wil­liam Gillette, 71, of Ne­wark, DE passed away on Wed­nes­day, Oc­to­ber 19, 2016. Born in Oswego, NY, on Dec. 30, 1944, he was the fourth child of Ed­ward and Mar­ion (Waterhouse) Gillette.

Mr. Gillette was a U.S. Ma­rine Corp. veteran, hav­ing re­tired from Man­ning­ton Mills, Deep­wa­ter, NJ, af­ter 17 years of ser­vice. He then worked for the Ce­cil County Health Depart­ment, med­i­cal trans­port, Elk­ton, MD.

Mr. Gillette was a car­ing hus­band, Dad, Pop Pop and Great Pop Pop. He leaves be­hind his new bride of one year, Mary Roland; chil­dren: Jerry Davis (Bev­erly); Kim­berly Wil­son (Mike); Angie Davis-Lee (Ronny); Nancy Davis (David Clark); sib­lings: Charles “Bum­mer” Gillette (Alice); Bar­bara (Gillette) Rhine­hart (Garry); grand­chil­dren: Michael Davis (Lisa); Stephen Lee (Doris); Sa­van­nah Davis; Sarah Davis; Joshua Mears; Sean Mears; Kelsea LeeMcCann (Justin); Kate­lyn Lee; Ken­zie Lee; nine great grand­chil­dren; a large ex­tended fam­ily and a host of friends.

In ad­di­tion to his par­ents, Mr. Gillette was pre­ceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Carol Gillette; daughter, Cindy (Davis) Mears; brother, Robert Gillette.

Funeral ser­vices, with mil­i­tary honors, will be held at 10 a.m., Tues­day, Oc­to­ber
