Tigers football falls short on emotional night
Rising Sun scored three rushing touchdowns and threw for another but it wasn’t enough in a 45-26 loss to visiting Patterson Mill in Susquehanna Division football action on Thursday.
Jesse Herrera (eight rushes, 35 yards), Cole Stafford (eight rushes, 59 yards) and Maurice McCargo (five rushes, 28 yards) all found the end zone on the ground for the Tigers (2-6 overall, 2-3 division).
Quarterback Nate McCullough completed 11 of 22 passes for 152 yards, including a 2-yard touchdown throw to Dustin Flowers (six catches, 59 yards) for Rising Sun.
Patterson Mill (2-6, 2-3) played for the first time since the sudden death of Huskies senior lineman Issac Pfarr. Patterson Mill honored him by only taking the field with 10 players for its opening possession on offense.

The Mustangs improve to 4-4 overall and 2-2 in the Chesapeake Division.

Daniel Webber ran for a pair of touchdowns, Zach Powell also found the end zone on the ground and Devin Anderson rushed for a score for the Bobcats ( 7- 1 overall, 3- 1 Chesapeake).
J. T. Kidd produced a rushing touchdown and quarterback Dave Harmon connected with Ben Sexton for a score for the Hawks ( 5- 3, 2- 2), who were tied 8- 8 at halftime.
Edgewood 27, Fallston 21
AJ Barmer and Cameron York both caught touchdown passes from Marquez Kimbrough and Deonte Banks had a 35yard interception return for a touchdown for the Rams ( 4- 4 overall, 1- 4 Chesapeake), who received a 70- yard punt return for a score from Derek Delilly.
The Cougars ( 3- 5, 1- 4) led 14- 13 at halftime.
Harford Tech 21, Joppatowne 20
The Cobras improve to 4- 4 overall and 2- 3 in the Susquehanna Division. The Mariners fall to 3- 5 overall and 3- 2 in the lower division.

Hanna Clarke and Erin Horsey both recorded hat tricks, Lexi Cook (two assists) had two goals and Emily Park and JoEllen Garson also found the net for the Eagles, who received two assists each from Hailey Husfelt and Makenzie Stallone.

Rose Benjamin scored off an assist from Caroline Roberts, while Delaney McDilda made five saves for the Indians.

Cassidy Boyd scored off an assist from Jackie Ayers for the Tigers.
UCBAC Volleyball Perryville 3, Harford Tech 0
The Panthers won by set scores of 25-13, 25-14 and 25-20.
Brooke Reynolds led Perryville with 15 service points, four aces and 11 digs, Gabby Goodnow recorded eight kills, four blocks and five digs and Rose Porch delivered 15 assists and eight digs, while Hailey Jones added 15 digs.

The Tigers won in straight sets by scores of 25-4, 25-6 and 27-25.
Breanne Haley led Rising Sun with 11 kills, two digs and a block and Lacey Swartout recorded seven kills and eight aces, while Sarah Williams distributed 17 assists.
Private School Volleyball MIL Championship Consolation
Caroline Ford had six kills and one dig and Sarah Poludniak (three digs), Tori Thompson and Merissa Price all had five kills for the Crusaders, while Madison Burrows (10 assists, one dig), Olivia Boas (seven assists, one dig) and Aubree Smith (one dig) all had one kill.
Both Ford and Poludniak were named to the MIL All-Tournament team.
