William L. Bolton “Bill”
William L. “Bill” Bolton, age 77, of North East, MD, passed away on Monday, October 24, 2016. Born in Elkton, MD, on July 31, 1939, he was the son of the late Arthur and Lillian Taylor Bolton.
Mr. Bolton was a diesel truck mechanic and retired from Wooleyhan Transport Company, Wilmington, DE. Following retirement, he operated his own tractor/ trailer. Mr. Bolton was very active in fire service in Cecil County for over 57 years. In 1959 he joined Chesapeake City Fire Company where he held the position of chief, assistant chief, and engineer, as well as serving on the Board of Directors. He later joined North East Fire Company where he served for 22 years. Mr. Bolton was active in the Telephone Pioneers, Special Olympics, and the Upper Bay Museum. Other memberships included American Legion MasonDixon Post #194, Rising Sun, and VFW Post #6027, North East. In addition to his service to his community, he enjoyed crabbing and fishing.
Survivors include his wife of 10 years, April Mann; children, Faith Edwards (Kevin), Elkton, MD, and Scott Bolton (Julie), Chesapeake City, MD; grandchildren, Mark Dill, Kasie Bolton, Holly Bolton, Jadyn Mann, and Connor Laurie; great-grandchildren, Alyssa Dill, Liliah and Mariah Thomas, and Brayden and Bryce Bolton; and sister, Joyce Barczak, Wilmington, DE.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Bolton was preceded in death by his daughter, Holly Renee Bolton; and siblings, Patsy Blanchfield, Pete Bolton and Nina Jo Almoney.
Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Thursday, October 27, 2016, at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton, MD 21921. Funeral service will begin at 11 a.m., Friday, October 28, at the funeral home. Interment will be in North East Methodist Cemetery, North East.
