North East at Elkton When: 7 p.m tonight Last Meeting: Nov. 6, 2015 – Elkton won, 39-0
Outlook: While it’s already clinched a playoff spot, the Elkton football team enters its season finale against North East unsure who and where it will play next week.
Currently the third seed in the 2A East Region, the Golden Elks (8-1 overall, 6-0 Susquehanna) have a chance to either move into the second seed and host an opening-round contest, stay put or drop to the fourth seed depending on how the other projected playoff teams fare.
Regardless, Elkton will likely need a win to remain in contention for a higher seed. With postseason play a week away, expect all business from the Elks, who will attack this game head on as they prepare for the playoffs.
Despite playing well against Bo Manor last week, the Indians offense struggled to finish drives. Against Elkton, offense could be even more hard to come by, as North East (0-9, 0-6) goes up against the top-ranked defense in the division.
While the score may be one-sided, anticipate a well-fought game, especially early, as North East at- tempts to build momentum heading into next year.
Joppatowne at Bohemia Manor When: 7 tonight Last Meeting: Nov. 4, 2015 – Bo Manor won, 26-0
Outlook: With a playoff spot locked up in the 1A East Region, Bo Manor will take the field tonight hoping to clinch home field. A win will guarantee them the No. 2 seed and an opening round home game, while a loss by current top seed Cambridge-SD could result in the victorious Eagles moving in the No. 1 spot.
While their records may differ, Bo Manor (6-3 overall, 4-2 Susquehanna) faces a tough task against visiting Joppatowne (3-6, 3-3). The Mariners are currently the fourth seed in the 1A North Region playoff race, and are currently on track to play Havre de Grace in the opening round of the postseason. While a loss could still lead to the Harford County school making the playoffs, a win will guarantee them a spot.
Expect the Eagles to come out swinging, using their down-hill running game and athletic defense to put away the opposition early. Momentum can go a long way in the playoffs and Bo Manor will enter the second season on a modest two-game winning streak if it can pull out a victory.
