James “Jim” Har­vey


James “Jim” Har­vey, 85, of Elk­ton, MD, passed away Sun­day, Novem­ber 6, 2016. Born in Elk­ton on Oc­to­ber 31, 1931, he was the son of the late Hugh and Char­lene Long Har­vey.

A U.S. Army vet­eran, Mr. Har­vey had been a heavy equip­ment op­er­a­tor. He was a mem­ber of Loyal Or­der of Moose, Lodge 851, Elk­ton and his hob­bies were trains and an­tique John Deere trac­tors.

Sur­vivors in­clude his son, James B. “Jamie” Har­vey; stepchil­dren, Cindy Sin­clair, Jeff Sny­der and Gary Sny­der and sib­lings, Dave Har­vey, Maiden, NC, Nancy Lewis, Pu­laski, WI, Betty “Betts” Gar­rett, Elk­ton, MD and Char­lene Friend, For­est Hill, MD.

In ad­di­tion to his par­ents Mr. Har­vey was pre­ceded in death by his wife, Lor­raine Har­vey, and sib­lings, Hugh “Budge” Har­vey II, John “Doc” Har­vey, Charles “Dick” Har­vey, Mike Har­vey, Ken Har­vey, Ly­dia “Rick” Askins, Joann “Jan” Neal and Mary Lou Gar­rett.

A me­mo­rial ser­vice with mil­i­tary honors will be held at 10 a.m., Thurs­day, Novem­ber 10, 2016 at Hicks Home for Fu­ner­als, 103 W. Stock­ton St., Elk­ton with vis­i­ta­tion be­gin­ning at 9 a.m. Pri­vate in­ter­ment will be in Cherry Hill Methodist Ceme­tery, Cherry Hill, MD.

hick­shome­for­fu­ner­als.com all oc­ca­sions. Allen was a de­voted fam­ily man and he loved his chil­dren and grand­chil­dren. His mem­ory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Allen is sur­vived by his wife of four years, Joan Louise Pen­hol­low; his sons, Ron­ald A. Pen­hol­low (Brenda), and Jonathan N. Pen­hol­low (Terah); his daugh­ter, Char­lotte M. Pen­hol­low Ritchie (Gre­gory); his sis­ter, Judith Ann Guy (Clif­ford); and five grand­chil­dren: Bren­den Pen­hol­low, Seth Pen­hol­low, Lan­don Ritchie, Lo­gan Pen­hol­low and Jayna Ritchie. Allen was pre­ceded in death by his first wife, Jane Pen­hol­low, and his brother, James Pen­hol­low.

A vis­i­ta­tion will be held on Tues­day evening, Novem­ber 8 from 6-9 p.m. and again on Wed­nes­day morn­ing from 10-11 a.m. at Bible Fel­low­ship Church of Ne­wark, DE. A ser­vice in cel­e­bra­tion of Allen’s life will fol­low at 11 a.m. Burial will take place at Rock Run Ceme­tery, Havre De Grace, MD.
