James Har­vey Lemon, Sr.

James Har­vey Lemon, Sr., age 92, of Wilm­ing­ton, DE, passed away on Mon­day, Novem­ber 14, 2016. Born in Wilm­ing­ton, he was the son of the late Har­vey A. and Alma Robin­son Lemon.

Mr. Lemon was a U.S. Army Corps­man veteran of the Korean War. He re­tired as a su­per­vi­sor in the en­gi­neer­ing depart­ment of the DuPont Com­pany, Lou­viers Site, after 40 years of ser­vice. He was a mem­ber of Shriner’s Nur Tem­ple, Wilm­ing­ton, since 1971, where he served in nu­mer­ous po­si­tions in­clud­ing past pres­i­dent. He was a 32nd De­gree Ma­son Scot­tish Rite of Ionic Lodge #31, New­port, DE, where he had been a mem­ber for over 50 years. Other mem­ber­ships in­cluded Amer­i­can Le­gion Ce­cil Post #15 and the Loyal Or­der of Moose, Lodge #851, both in Elkton, MD. Mr. Lemon was very devoted to his fam­ily and com­mu­nity.

Sur­vivors in­clude his son, James H. Lemon, Jr. and wife, Karen, Ne­wark, DE; grand­chil­dren, Zachary Lemon (Aly), Ne­wark, DE, and Jil­lian Lemon (Mikey), Bear, DE; and sib­lings, Jean Folts, Wilm­ing­ton, DE, and Paul Lemon, Ne­wark, DE.

In ad­di­tion to his par­ents, Mr. Lemon was pre­ceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Doris A. Scar­bor­ough Lemon; and broth­ers, Jack, Harry and Norman Lemon.

Visi­ta­tion will be held from 6 p.m. un­til 8 p.m., Thurs­day, Novem­ber 17, 2016, at Hicks Home for Funer­als, 103 W. Stock­ton Street, Elkton, MD, with an Ionic Lodge ser­vice at 7 p.m. Grave­side ser­vice with mil­i­tary hon­ors will be­gin at 2:45 p.m., Fri­day, Novem­ber 18, in Sil­ver­brook Ceme­tery, 3300 Lan­caster Av­enue, Wilm­ing­ton, DE.
