Man struck, killed after crash
— A man who had walked away from a head-on collision scene near Elkton on Tuesday night was killed in that area approximately 30 minutes later — when he was struck by a vehicle after jumping out the bed of a pickup truck, according to Maryland State Police.
Investigators identified the victim as Jason Dale Owens, 35, of Nottingham, Pa.
Owens was pronounced dead at the scene on Telegraph Road (Route 273), east of Hilltop Road and north of Elkton, where he had been struck by a sport utility vehicle after jumping off the truck onto the highway, police reported.
That fatal incident occurred after Owens had been involved in a head-on collision on Telegraph Road near Little Elk Creek Road, a short distance away, about a half-hour earlier and fled, according to police.
