Shirley Holbrook, 77, of Elk Mills, MD, passed away on Monday, November 21, 2016 in the Christiana Hospital, Newark, DE.
Born in Gap Mills, WV, on April 28, 1939, she was the daughter of the late George and Lorarene (Kirk) Dunsmore. She was the beloved wife of 59 years to Ira C. Holbrook Sr. who passed on Oct. 27, 2016.
In her early years, Shirley attended Baptist Bible Church on Appleton Road, then after moving to Elk Mills, she attended Baldwin United Methodist Church and was a part of the Missions team.
She was a member of the Moose Lodge since 1998 and had a 10 year Perfect Attendance and a Moose Breakfast Award. In her younger years, she maintained two gardens where Shirley grew vegetables and canned up food for the winter. She loved raising flowers and cacti, watching NASCAR and All Star Wrestling, listening to country music and bluegrass, playing cards and Bingo. Her favorite color was red.

Holbrook of Elkton; brothers: Charles Reynolds of Gore, VA; Henry Reynolds of Cross Junction, VA; Hugh Reynolds of Charlestown, WV; her 11 grandchildren: Dallas Nagle, Timothy Watson, Christopher Bernal, Rachael Bowles, Tara Bernal, Jesse Holbrook, Amy Holbrook, Samantha Holbrook, Steven Holbrook, Michael Holbrook, Travis Bernal; 10 great grandchildren: Caiden Bernal, Taylor Bowles, Riley Watson, MaKayla Nagle, Gavin Bowles, Avery Watson, Alexis Nagle, Jace Bowles, Liam Bernal, Laci Bernal; and numerous nephews, nieces and friends.
