Shirley Hol­brook, 77, of Elk Mills, MD, passed away on Mon­day, Novem­ber 21, 2016 in the Chris­tiana Hos­pi­tal, Ne­wark, DE.

Born in Gap Mills, WV, on April 28, 1939, she was the daugh­ter of the late Ge­orge and Lo­rarene (Kirk) Dun­smore. She was the beloved wife of 59 years to Ira C. Hol­brook Sr. who passed on Oct. 27, 2016.

In her early years, Shirley at­tended Bap­tist Bible Church on Ap­ple­ton Road, then af­ter mov­ing to Elk Mills, she at­tended Bald­win United Methodist Church and was a part of the Mis­sions team.

She was a mem­ber of the Moose Lodge since 1998 and had a 10 year Per­fect At­ten­dance and a Moose Break­fast Award. In her younger years, she main­tained two gar­dens where Shirley grew veg­eta­bles and canned up food for the win­ter. She loved rais­ing flow­ers and cacti, watch­ing NAS­CAR and All Star Wrestling, lis­ten­ing to coun­try mu­sic and blue­grass, play­ing cards and Bingo. Her fa­vorite color was red.

Sur­vived by her chil­dren: Bon­nie Sue Na­gle of Ris­ing Sun, MD; Pa­tri­cia M. Ber­nal (Luis) of Elkton, MD; Sue Wat­son (Stan) of Ris­ing Sun; Ira C. Hol­brook Jr. (Cyndi) of North East, MD; Blenda J. Hol­brook of Elkton; brothers: Charles Reynolds of Gore, VA; Henry Reynolds of Cross Junc­tion, VA; Hugh Reynolds of Charlestown, WV; her 11 grand­chil­dren: Dal­las Na­gle, Ti­mothy Wat­son, Christo­pher Ber­nal, Rachael Bowles, Tara Ber­nal, Jesse Hol­brook, Amy Hol­brook, Sa­man­tha Hol­brook, Steven Hol­brook, Michael Hol­brook, Travis Ber­nal; 10 great grand­chil­dren: Caiden Ber­nal, Tay­lor Bowles, Ri­ley Wat­son, MaKayla Na­gle, Gavin Bowles, Avery Wat­son, Alexis Na­gle, Jace Bowles, Liam Ber­nal, Laci Ber­nal; and nu­mer­ous neph­ews, nieces and friends.

Shirley had many spe­cial friends through the years and re­cently had ex­pe­ri­enced los­ing many of those phone bud­dies to death. Just to men­tion a few: Wanda Ulmer, Joyce Robin­son, Pansy
