Where to get your holiday Christmas tree
— There’s no shortage of Christmas tree sellers here, so all those in the market for one this holiday season will have a number of options to pick from.
Some farms offer pre-cut trees, others allow customers to walk around and cut down their own. Prices vary widely. When you choose, make sure to keep the local, smaller farms near you in mind.
Pads View Farm, located at 120 Roop Rd. in Rising Sun, is one of those smaller operations. Last year, it sold about
140 trees and is prepped to do at least that well again this year. It sells pre-cut 7- to 8-foot Douglas firs for $29 and 7to 8-foot Fraser firs for $49.
Dylan Wagner, 24, handles most of the operations himself, but on Friday was joined by 16-year-old Daniel Rajkowski to sell some trees. Wagner described the day as a warmup to when business would pick up over the weekend. This upcoming weekend, he said, should be very busy.
“We like to keep it local,” said Kevin Bowman, who came to Pads View with his wife Jennifer and two daughters, Kate and Emme. “And the price is right.”
