Tracey Ben­jamin Serpi, PhD of Churchville, MD, age 43, passed away on Wed­nes­day, Novem­ber 30, 2016, af­ter a strong and coura­geous bat­tle with cancer. She was born on July 13, 1973 in Elkton, MD to Henry Wayne Ben­jamin and Norma Combs Ben­jamin.

Tracey grad­u­ated as vale­dic­to­rian from the Ris­ing Sun High School Class of ’91, and con­tin­ued her ed­u­ca­tion at Univer­sity of Mary­land Bal­ti­more County and Univer­sity of Mary­land at Bal­ti­more, ul­ti­mately earn­ing a PhD in epi­demi­ol­ogy. She worked as a Bio­statis­ti­cian at Perry Point Vet­eran’s Hos­pi­tal. For ap­prox­i­mately 20 years, Tracey was a mem­ber of Mary­land Trans­plant Team and par­tic­i­pated in the Trans­plant Olympics. She taught dog obe­di­ence train­ing at Four Paws where she was able to en­joy her pas­sion of train­ing dogs. Tracey al­ways put on her best, even when she was not feel­ing well. She was an in­spi­ra­tion to her nieces and neph­ews and loved by all that met her.

Tracey is sur­vived by her lov­ing hus­band of twenty one years, Bill Serpi of Churchville, MD, her four chil­dren/dogs; Buddy, B.B., Kiss, and Holly; her par­ents, Henry Wayne Ben­jamin and Norma Combs Ben­jamin, of Ris­ing Sun, MD; her in­laws, Alex and Rose Serpi Sr., of Hager­stown, MD, and her ma­ter­nal grand­mother, Kath­ern Combs of Elkton, MD; and an ex­tended fam­ily of aunts, un­cles, brother and sis­ter in laws, nieces, neph­ews, and cousins.

A vis­i­ta­tion will be held on Tues­day, De­cem­ber 6, 2016 be­tween 6PM and 8PM at the R.T. Foard Fu­neral Home, 111 S. Queen St., Ris­ing Sun, MD 21911. A memo­rial ser­vice will be held for Tracey on Wed­nes­day, De­cem­ber 7, 2016 at 11AM. Fam­ily and friends may be­gin vis­it­ing at 10AM. In lieu of flow­ers, memo­rial con­tri­bu­tions in Tracey’s honor can be made payable to “Liv­ing Legacy Foun­da­tion” or “House of Hope” and sent in care of the fu­neral home to P.O. Box 248, Ris­ing Sun, MD 21911.
