Get coding Hour of Code takes place this week and many county organizations are participating in this national event.
The initiative was started four years ago by Code.org, a nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to computer science and increasing representation by women and underrepresented minority students. The goal of the event is to introduce students to computer science as well as to help them learn the basics of coding. Log onto Code.org to use one of the organization’s free tutorials or check out the programs being offered by the Cecil County Public Library.
Cheer on the Elks After being Calvert 21-6 two weeks ago, Elkton High School football will take on Walkersville of Frederick County in the 2A state championship game on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis. Elkton has not advanced to the state title game since 2000 and is only the fourth Cecil County team to ever achieve that feat.
Cheer them on as they try to cap off their season with a state championship.
