Jimmie L. Lester, Sr.
Jimmie L. Lester, Sr., age 82, of Elkton, MD, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2016. Born in Hurley, VA, on April 17, 1934, he was the son of the late Ira and Faye Mullins Lester.
Mr. Lester had worked for United Coal Company, Hurley, and retired from the Chrysler Corporation, Newark, DE, as an assembler. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, Elkton, where he was an ordained minister and served as deacon. Mr. Lester enjoyed spending time outdoors and making hospital visits, something he did for over 40 years.
Survivors include his children, Darrell Lester, Patricia Dickens, both of Elkton, MD, and Jimmy L. Lester III (Michelle), Earleville, MD; siblings, Nelline Charles, Opal “Sally” Stacy, Bob Lester and Roger Lester; grandchildren, Garnet “Chuckie” Dickens, Kristi Nussle (Matt), Ira Dickens Sr. (Samantha), Karen Lester, Sarah Lester and Stephanie Ragoobeer (Andrew); 8 greatgrandchildren; and brotherin-law, Jerry Bonsall.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Lester was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Beatrice Charles Lester; son, Jimmy L. Lester, Jr.; and grandsons, Matthew and Jonathan Lester.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, December 9, 2016, at Fellowship Baptist Church, 725 W. Pulaski Highway, Elkton, MD 21921, where visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Gilpin Manor Memorial Park, Elkton.

A veiwing will be held on Friday, December 9 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St., Galena, MD, where funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Earleville, MD.
