Bar­bara Ann Sea­man Richard­son, 54, of Scotts­dale, AZ, and for­merly of Elk­ton, MD, passed away on Sun­day, De­cem­ber 11, 2016 in Elk­ton, MD. She was born in Elk­ton on May 20, 1962 to Mathilde Schuler Sea­man and the late John Sea­man.

Born and raised in the Elk­ton area, she was a 1980 grad­u­ate of Elk­ton High School. She at­tended Sal­is­bury State Col­lege where she was on the Women’s Swim Team her fresh­man year. In 1981, Bar­bara moved to Dal­las, TX, to at­tend Bauder Fash­ion Col­lege, earn­ing her as­so­ci­ates de­gree in 1983. It was at this time that she started work­ing as a flight at­ten­dant for South­west Air­lines. Her great love of peo­ple fit in per­fectly with the young air­line’s cor­po­rate cul­ture, and she helped the com­pany grow, serv­ing as they ex­panded to Dal­las, Hous­ton, Phoenix, and Chicago. She re­tired af­ter serv­ing al­most 30 years.

She is sur­vived by her hus­band of 18 years, An­drew Wil­liam Richard­son, of Scotts­dale, AZ; her mother, Mathilde Schuler Sea­man, of Elk­ton, MD; broth­ers, Roy Sea­man, of Wilm­ing­ton, DE, and Perry Sea­man, of Ne­wark, DE; nieces and neph­ews, Matthew Welch, Macken­zie Welch, Emily Kyewski, Mon­ica Sea­man, Catharine Richard­son, Wil­liam Richard­son, Ti­mothy Richard­son, Kyle Richard­son, Court­ney Richard­son, and Brit­ney Richard­son; and broth­ers-in-law, Kevin Richard­son and his wife, Deb­bie, of Wau­na­kee, WI, and Tim Richard­son, and his wife, Jan­ice, of Park Ridge, IL.

She is pre­de­ceased by her fa­ther, John Sea­man; a brother, Ken­neth Sea­man; and a niece, Tay­lor Welch.

A Mass of Chris­tian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Fri­day, De­cem­ber 16 at Im­mac­u­late Con­cep­tion Catholic Church, 455 Bow St., Elk­ton, MD 21921. A visi­ta­tion will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thurs­day, De­cem­ber 15 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, P.A., 259 East Main St., Elk­ton, MD 21921. Burial will be held pri­vately.

In lieu of flow­ers, me­mo­rial con­tri­bu­tion checks can be made to “Wa­ter for Peo­ple” and sent c/o the funeral home.
