Sea­hawks edge Trojans for first win of sea­son

NORTH EAST — Ce­cil Col­lege de­feated vis­it­ing Al­le­gany Col­lege of Maryland 5-2 in Maryland JUCO men’s soc­cer ac­tion on Tues­day, snap­ping a three-game los­ing streak to be­gin the sea­son.

Af­ter en­ter­ing the break tied 1-1, the Sea­hawks (1-3 over­all, 1-0 con­fer­ence) scored four times in the sec­ond half, in­clud­ing a hat trick from mid­fielder John Sav­age.

Pa­trick Kelly put Ce­cil on the board with a goal in the first half, while Elk­ton grad­u­ate Seth Gra­ham also scored in the sec­ond half.

Justin Gutierrez made two saves in net for Ce­cil.

Bran­don Rob­bins and Austin Unger both scored for the Trojans.

UCBAC Girls’ Soc­cer North Har­ford 2, North East 1

Mia Cud­more scored the lone goal for the In­di­ans (01), who re­ceived 14 saves in net from De­laney McDilda.

The Hawks im­prove to 1-0 over­all.

UCBAC Volleyball Bo­hemia Manor 3, Elk­ton 0

The Ea­gles im­prove to 1-0 over­all.

The Golden Elks fall to 0-1 over­all. Pri­vate school Boys’ Soc­cer Tri-State Chris­tian 2, Tome 0

Se­niors Ryan Rash (as­sist) and Luke Silva both scored for the Cru­saders (1-1), who re­ceived six saves in net from Ethan Henry, in­clud­ing block­ing a late-game penalty kick.

UCBAC Field Hockey Ris­ing Sun 5, Per­ryville 1

Amanda Har­alds­son recorded a hat trick and Biz Hurm and Bri­anna Fra­zier also found the back of the net for the Tigers (1-0).

Ellen Lit­tle scored the lone goal for the Pan­thers (0-1). UCBAC Girls’ Soc­cer Elk­ton 5, Per­ryville 0

Kristina Keith­ley scored twice and Kelsey Cal­darelli, Son­ali Shah and Siara Hop­kins all scored once for the Golden Elks (1-0), who re­ceived two as­sists from Al­li­son Rogers and one helper from Mar­garita Con­trares.

Lexi Ee­oli earned the shutout for a de­fense that played well for Elk­ton.

“It’s such a good way to start off the sea­son. It was a to­tal team effort,” firstyear Elk­ton coach Shawn Cal­darelli said. “All the girls contributed, all played well to­day.”

The Pan­thers fall to 0-1 to open the year.
