RIS­ING SUN — Noth­ing draws a crowd like baby an­i­mals and Plump­ton Park Zoo had a packed house this week­end as it in­tro­duced its new­est ad­di­tions to the com­mu­nity.

The zoo on Tele­graph Road re­cently ac­quired an 18- week- old arctic wolf named Shadow and a 14- week- old cougar named Ni­cole. In ad­di­tion, a lit­ter of con­ti­nen­tal giant bun­nies was born at the zoo in July. Shadow was pur­chased from a breeder in Vir­ginia af­ter a three year wait while Ni­cole came to the zoo from Texas.

Ch­eryl La­co­vara, di­rec­tor of the zoo, said she made the drive to Texas just hours af­ter get­ting a call that the young cougar was avail­able.
