Tigers fall short in football loss to Cougars

The Ris­ing Sun football team is trend­ing in the right di­rec­tion.

One week af­ter suf­fer­ing a 48-0 loss to C.M. Wright in the sea­son opener, the Tigers per­formed much bet­ter Fri­day in a 21-6 loss to host Fall­ston — an­other Ch­e­sa­peake Divi­sion foe — in non-di­vi­sional football ac­tion.

Joe Jones car­ried 11 times for 117 yards and Mau­rice McCargo had eight rushes for 41 yards for the Tigers (0-2), who pro­duced four in­ter­cep­tions on de­fense, in­clud­ing two by Eric Far­rell, and a forced fum­ble.

No. 3 Havre de Grace 40, Jop­pa­towne 0

Sean Gree­ley had three rush­ing touch­downs and Jor­dan Day brought down two re­ceiv­ing touch­downs, while Reg­gie Marks posted six sacks for the War­riors (2-0).

The Mariners fall to 0-2 on the sea­son.

No. 4 North Har­ford 35, Pat­ter­son Mill 34

Dave Harmon threw four touch­down passes and pro­duced the game-win­ning 2-point con­ver­sion with one minute re­main­ing for the Hawks (2-0), who had two touch­down catches from Tyler Collins and one touch­down grab each from Zach Chavis and Bobby Duffy.

Jar­rett Newlon caught the gamewin­ning con­ver­sion, while Matt King had three ex­tra points.

The Bob­cats fall to 1-1 over­all.

The Rams fall to 1-1.

Kirra Bar­rett had 15 kills, one block, three digs and six aces, in­clud­ing 15 straight points in game five, Brit­tany Atkins added 12 kills, two blocks, two aces and four digs and Sarah Blevins to­taled 33 as­sists and three aces for the Sea­hawks (1-1 over­all, 1-1 Mary­land JUCO), who re­ceived eight kills and four digs from Emily Waldridge, six kills, two blocks and two aces from Mor­gan Mock and 12 digs and one ace from Emily Ritchie.

The win came three days af­ter a 3-1, sea­son-open­ing loss to Fred­er­ick in which Bar­rett (11 kills) and Mock (five kills) had two blocks each, Waldridge (six kills, one ace) and Blevins (25 as­sists, two aces) had four digs each and Atkins tal­lied eight kills, three blocks, five aces and three digs.

UCBAC Boys’ Soc­cer Bo­hemia Manor 5, Tome 1

Chris Bain­bridge led the Eagles (1-1) with three goals and an as­sist. Zach Voros and Leke Popoola scored a goal apiece, Zach Law­son recorded two as­sists and Bran­don Teix­i­dor added on as­sist.

The Tigers (1-0 over­all, 1-0 Ch­e­sa­peake) swept the Huskies by set scores of 25-22, 25-12 and 25-16.

Grace Webb had six kills, four aces and seven digs for Ris­ing Sun. Emily Jack­son recorded six kills, two aces, one block and 14 as­sists.

The Huskies fall to 0-1 over­all and in the up­per divi­sion.

The In­di­ans (0-1 over­all, 0-1 Ch­e­sa­peake) fell by set scores of 25-13, 17-25, 25-17 and 25-23.

The Mus­tangs im­prove to 1-1 over­all and 1-0 in the up­per divi­sion.
