Tigers fall short in football loss to Cougars
The Rising Sun football team is trending in the right direction.
One week after suffering a 48-0 loss to C.M. Wright in the season opener, the Tigers performed much better Friday in a 21-6 loss to host Fallston — another Chesapeake Division foe — in non-divisional football action.
Joe Jones carried 11 times for 117 yards and Maurice McCargo had eight rushes for 41 yards for the Tigers (0-2), who produced four interceptions on defense, including two by Eric Farrell, and a forced fumble.
No. 3 Havre de Grace 40, Joppatowne 0
Sean Greeley had three rushing touchdowns and Jordan Day brought down two receiving touchdowns, while Reggie Marks posted six sacks for the Warriors (2-0).
The Mariners fall to 0-2 on the season.
No. 4 North Harford 35, Patterson Mill 34
Dave Harmon threw four touchdown passes and produced the game-winning 2-point conversion with one minute remaining for the Hawks (2-0), who had two touchdown catches from Tyler Collins and one touchdown grab each from Zach Chavis and Bobby Duffy.
Jarrett Newlon caught the gamewinning conversion, while Matt King had three extra points.

Kirra Barrett had 15 kills, one block, three digs and six aces, including 15 straight points in game five, Brittany Atkins added 12 kills, two blocks, two aces and four digs and Sarah Blevins totaled 33 assists and three aces for the Seahawks (1-1 overall, 1-1 Maryland JUCO), who received eight kills and four digs from Emily Waldridge, six kills, two blocks and two aces from Morgan Mock and 12 digs and one ace from Emily Ritchie.
The win came three days after a 3-1, season-opening loss to Frederick in which Barrett (11 kills) and Mock (five kills) had two blocks each, Waldridge (six kills, one ace) and Blevins (25 assists, two aces) had four digs each and Atkins tallied eight kills, three blocks, five aces and three digs.
UCBAC Boys’ Soccer Bohemia Manor 5, Tome 1
Chris Bainbridge led the Eagles (1-1) with three goals and an assist. Zach Voros and Leke Popoola scored a goal apiece, Zach Lawson recorded two assists and Brandon Teixidor added on assist.
