Elks edge Bulldogs in penalty strokes
ELKTON — It took a pair of overtime periods and penalty strokes, but the Elkton field hockey team found a way to keep its early-season record unblemished.
Vanessa Dunn and Elissa Mellott both found the back of the cage in penalty strokes as the Golden Elks outlasted visiting North Caroline 3-2 in non-conference action on Monday.
Prior to penalty strokes, both teams battle through a pair of scoreless, 10-minute overtime periods.
Dunn finished with a goal and an assist and Hannah Moore also found the back of the cage, while Nicole Baldino dished out one helper for Elkton (2-0) in the victory.

The Indians improve to 1-0 overall.
The Rams fall to 0-2 overall.
UCBAC Boys’ Soccer West Nottingham 5, Perryville 2
Gasper Wambrau scored four goals and added one assist for the Rams, who received one goal from Vinsensius Pekei.
Nick Alberdin and Ben Roberts both found the back of the net for the Panthers (0-2), who led 2-0 at halftime.

The Indians improve to 2-0 overall.
The Eagles fall to 2-1 overall.

Luke Silva had a hat trick and Brandon Mixon had two goals, while Alex Cifolelli ( two assists), Nathan Walton, Gideon Peterson, Ryan Rash and Gabe Giesing all scored once for the Crusaders ( 2- 2).
