Indians edge Elks, stay unbeaten in lower-division play
North East defeated visiting Elkton 2-1 in Susquehanna Division field hockey action on Monday.
Abby Riley assisted a pair of goals for the Indians (5-3 overall, 3-0 division), aiding on a tally by Keegan Carew and later dishing out the game-winner to Areyh Williams. Across the field, Ericka Schmidt made 11 saves in net and Allison Leftridge added a defensive save in the victory.
Vanessa Dunn scored off an assist from Maia Giafes for the Golden Elks (3-4, 0-3). Perryville 3, Harford Tech 0
Emma Coggins and Nadia Makach both scored for the Panthers (4-3 overall, 3-0 Susquehanna).
The Cobras fall to 3-3 overall and 2-1 in the lower division.
Rising Sun 2, Edgewood 0
Amanda Haraldsson scored in the game’s first minute, while Biz Hurm doubled the lead in the contest’s final five seconds for the Tigers (5-3 overall, 1-1 Chesapeake).
The Rams fall to 1-8 overall and 0-4 in the upper division.
UCBAC Boys’ Soccer Edgewood 3, Rising Sun 2
Jackson Sopa led the Tigers (5-3 overall, 4-0 Susquehanna) with a goal and an assist. Matthew Christian scored Rising Sun’s first goal and Demetri Smith added an assist. Ethan Greene made three saves in the net.
Ryan Dean scored all three goals for the Rams (3-5, 2-1).
Bohemia Manor 3, Havre de Grace 2
Brandon Teixidor led the Eagles with two goals and Chris Bainbridge tallied the other. Goalie Matt Lynn made seven saves for Bohemia Manor (3-4 overall, 1-3 Susquehanna).

Harford Tech 3, Perryville 1
The Panthers fall to 3-5 overall and 2-2 in the Susquehanna.

The Indians fall to 6-2 on the season and 2-2 in the lower division.
The Mariners improve to 2-5 overall and 1-3 in the Susquehanna.
UCBAC Volleyball Patterson Mill 3, North East 0
The Indians lose by scores of 25-19, 25-16 and 25-14.
Maddie Bickestaff had three kills for the Indians, Isabelle Evans made seven assists, McKayla Schnell recorded two kills and three blocks and Maddie Stitely added three kills and an ace for North East (1-5 overall and Susquehanna).
The Huskies improve to 4-3 overall and 3-3 in the upper division.
Youth Soccer Doubleheader ends with pair of 1-1 draws
The U14 Cecil Kickers battled to a pair of 1-1 draws in a doubleheader against AFC over the weekend.
Gabriella Pileggi assisted a goal by Allyson Miklas in Game 1, while Abby Cocco aided a goal by Erika Clarke in Game 2 for Cecil, which received four combined saves from Shadai Givens.
