Farm Museum to host Apple Butter Festival Saturday
FAIR HILL — The Cecil County Farm Museum has been peeling and boiling apples in preparation for its annual Apple Butter Festival, which will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Ben Haines, museum president, said once again this year the Apple Butter Making Festival has hitched its cart to Fair Hill Interna- tional and will be set up at the entrance to the Fair Hill Fairgrounds on Route 273 near Route 213.
“Fair Hill International asked us to be there,” Haines said, adding they like the extra customers they get from the folks arriving for the equestrian event. “We get a fair amount from the people in the parking lot.”
Museum volunteers have already processed 515 pints of the deep brown, sweet and spicy spread, and will make another three kettles Saturday.
While all those kettles are being constantly stirred — and maybe you can take a turn — there is also music, vendors, demonstrations and other fun planned, Haines said.
At 4 p.m., the winners of the gun raffle will be drawn. You need not be present to win, Haines said. Four rifles are being raffled.
