SHOP WITH A COP First An­nual ‘Shop with a Cop — Ce­cil County’ Char­ity Soft­ball Ex­hi­bi­tion Game and Home Run Derby

The ApeNa­tion LLC presents the first an­nual “Shop with a Cop — Ce­cil County” Char­ity Soft­ball Ex­hi­bi­tion Game and Home Run Derby Satur­day, Oct. 7. The game, fea­tur­ing Team EShore vs. Team In­ferno Sports will take place at 1 p. m. Fol­low­ing the game, there will be a home run derby open to the pub­lic.

All pro­ceeds will be ben­e­fit­ing the SWACCC Foun­da­tion, a foun­da­tion ded­i­cated to help­ing fam­i­lies in need. This foun­da­tion pairs vol­un­teers with lo­cal po­lice to shop for food and gifts for those in need around the hol­i­day.

LIT­TLE LEAGUE Ch­e­sa­peake City L.L.

Ch­e­sa­peake City Lit­tle League will hold an­nual of­fi­cer elec­tions on Oct. 10 at 6 p.m. If in­ter­ested in serv­ing on the board, call Larry Crouse at 443-309-0991 for more in­for­ma­tion.

CE­CIL COUNTY PARKS & RECRE­ATION Dance

Classes will be of­fered for chil­dren ages 3-13 in­clud­ing: Pro­gres­sive Move­ment (35), Bal­let I (6-9), Bal­let II (10-13). The next ses­sion will start in mid – late Oc­to­ber. Pro­grams are cur­rently of­fered on Thurs­day evenings. Cost is $32 for a six week ses­sion. Reg­is­tra­tion is now open and can be done at ce­cil­rec.com.

Dog Obe­di­ence

Cer­ti­fied trainer Kathryn Boris will lead Level 1 train­ing at the Ris­ing Sun Com­mu­nity Cen­ter ev­ery Friday, from 6 -7 p.m. The next class will start in late Oc­to­ber or early Novem­ber. Six week pro­gram with a fo­cus on pos­i­tive re­in­force­ment to cor­rect and teach proper behavior. Dogs must be at least 16 weeks old. Cost is $110. Reg­is­ter at ce­cil­rec.com.

Sports and Arts (After the Bell)

Open to stu­dents at Bay View, Calvert and Ris­ing Sun El­e­men­tary schools. The goal of the pro­gram is to pro­vide an af­ford­able, struc­tured, Sports and Arts Club where stu­dents can con­tinue their daily ac­tiv­i­ties at the Ce­cil Arena. Sports & Arts will run Monday — Friday each week start­ing Sept. 5 thru the end of the school year. 4 — 5:30 each day. Cost of the pro­gram is $15 per week. Sports Academy (Preschool and Homeschool)

Sports Academy will help lay a foun­da­tion to build soc­cer skills. This class will teach sports­man­ship, drib­bling, pass­ing and shoot­ing with games and con­tests. We look for­ward to see­ing you on the field! Ses­sion starts Nov. 7. The cost is $32 for the 6 week pro­gram.

After School Pro­grams

There are a wide ar­ray of after school op­por­tu­ni­ties at var­i­ous schools around the county in­clud­ing: Cap­ture the Trea­sure (Conowingo), Kick­ball (RSES), Sports Mix (Ch­e­sa­peake City), and Mov-

ers flag foot­ball (BMMS, PVMS, RSMS) just to name a few. All pro­grams can be found and regis­tered for at ce­cil­rec.com. New pro­grams are of­fered through­out the school year.

YMCA YMCA Youth Bas­ket­ball Pro­gram

First come, first serve only. Open spa­ces fill­ing up quickly.

Play­ers are taught bas­ket­ball fun­da­men­tals and given the op­por­tu­nity to demon­strate their learned skills in games. All play­ers are placed on teams within their ge­o­graphic school lo­ca­tion. No phone-in regis­tra­tions are ac­cepted! For stu­dents grades 1-8.

Teams prac­tice once a week in their com­mu­nity and play an eight-game sched­ule at the YMCA. Ev­ery player will re­ceive a new YMCA Bas­ket­ball Rev­ersable TankTop.

A new “Run with the Big Dawgs” sea­son-end­ing tour­na­ment will be free for the older di­vi­sion, boys and girls. Fee: $65 per per­son. Fundrais­ing Fee: $10 per child due at reg­is­tra­tion. For more in­for­ma­tion call 410-392-YMCA
