Rising Sun to host breakfast for firefighters, paramedics
RISING SUN — Anyone who is a firefighter, paramedic, ambulance driver, or works in any way with these services, is invited to a free breakfast Friday morning at RT Foard Community Banquet Hall on East Cherry Street from 8 to 11 a.m.
Hosted by the town of Rising Sun, this is the first Fire and EMS Appreciation Breakfast. The town has hosted three Law Enforcement Appreciation Breakfasts in January, which began as a cap off to a month long of recognition for that line of work. At those free breakfasts, which were served in town hall, all first responders were invited. It attracted police as well as fire and EMS.
However, October is Fire Prevention Month said Commissioner Augie Pierson, a retired Baltimore City firefighter, said it was the right time to celebrate those in the town and surrounding community who do that job, whether paid or volunteer.
Pierson said the town would also serve its Law Enforcement Appreciation Breakfast next year, but move it to Foard’s as well.
Rising Sun has served a free breakfast to law enforcement for three years, but this year a breakfast was added for firefighters and EMS.
