Ris­ing Sun to host break­fast for fire­fight­ers, paramedics

RIS­ING SUN — Any­one who is a fire­fighter, para­medic, am­bu­lance driver, or works in any way with th­ese ser­vices, is in­vited to a free break­fast Fri­day morn­ing at RT Foard Com­mu­nity Ban­quet Hall on East Cherry Street from 8 to 11 a.m.

Hosted by the town of Ris­ing Sun, this is the first Fire and EMS Ap­pre­ci­a­tion Break­fast. The town has hosted three Law En­force­ment Ap­pre­ci­a­tion Break­fasts in Jan­uary, which be­gan as a cap off to a month long of recog­ni­tion for that line of work. At those free break­fasts, which were served in town hall, all first re­spon­ders were in­vited. It at­tracted po­lice as well as fire and EMS.

How­ever, Oc­to­ber is Fire Preven­tion Month said Com­mis­sioner Augie Pier­son, a re­tired Bal­ti­more City fire­fighter, said it was the right time to cel­e­brate those in the town and sur­round­ing com­mu­nity who do that job, whether paid or vol­un­teer.

Pier­son said the town would also serve its Law En­force­ment Ap­pre­ci­a­tion Break­fast next year, but move it to Foard’s as well.
