Honor­ing vet­er­ans

ELK­TON — No mat­ter how many days go by, the ser­vice of Amer­ica’s vet­er­ans is al­ways felt in the lib­er­ties en­joyed each mo­ment. In Elk­ton, a large turnout at VFW Elk­ton Memo­rial Post No. 8175 on Vet­er­ans Day this Sat­ur­day showed just how much the com­mu­nity ap­pre­ci­ates not only its own vet­er­ans, but all those who have served.

The guest speaker this year was Com­mand Sgt. Maj. Frank Gu­tier­rez, who serves at Aberdeen Prov­ing Ground and de­liv­ered an ad­dress to re­mem­ber not only those cur­rently serv­ing, but those who served in any pre­vi­ous con­flict.

“We must re­mem­ber and ap­pre­ci­ate our vet­er­ans and their sac­ri­fices. With­out your com­mit­ment, it would have been im­pos­si­ble for me to be suc­cess­ful in the mil­i­tary. You paved the way for me to be suc­cess­ful,” he said in his ad­dress to the vet­er­ans in the
