Agnes Eva Eskridge
Agnes Eva Eskridge of Elkton, MD, 89, passed away Thursday, October 4, 2018. Born on Feb. 5, 1929 in Elkton, she was the daughter of Elsworth Howell Johnson and Elsie Malinda (Grant) Johnson.
Agnes worked on Main St. in Elkton, her entire life. She worked for Mokal’s during her high school years and went on to work for J.J Newberry’s for over 35 years, from which she retired in 1994. Agnes was baptized in and attended the Friendship Baptist Church in Newark, DE. Despite being widowed three times, Agnes continued to share her loving and kind nature with those around her.
Agnes was a hardworking woman and devoted mother who spent most of her time working and taking care of her home and family. In her free time, she enjoyed reading romance novels, listening to classic countr y music and collecting assorted cast iron figures. Agnes was fond of birds, specifically ducks and cardinals. She also made sure that her home was decorated for each holiday, and particularly enjoyed Christmas; making sure each year that Christmas was special. Agnes loved to laugh and her most treasured time was spent with her family.

Agnes is survived by two daughters: Dolores Murson, of North East, MD; Karen Mullins and her husband Ron, of Spotsylvania, VA; grandson, Jason Mullins, of Fredericksburg, VA; two great granddaughters: Elena and Ella Mullins, of Fredericksburg, VA; and two brothers: Robert Johnson, of PA; and Delbert Johnson, of Elkton, MD. In addition to her parents, Agnes is preceded in death by her first husband, Melvin “Buzzy” Murson; second husband, Charles LeVan; third husband, James Eskridge; and brother, Arthur Johnson.
A funeral service for Agnes was held Tuesday, October 9 at R.T. Foard Funeral Home, 259 E. Main St., Elkton, MD 21921.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Agnes’ honor may be made payable to “Leukemia & Lymphoma Society” or “Alzheimer’s Association” and sent in care of the funeral home.
