YOGA

Lil Lack Yoga Chair Yoga Class

Chair yoga is prac­ticed seated on a chair or stand­ing us­ing the chair for sta­bil­ity and to aid with bal­ance. This is great class for any­one want­ing a gen­tle and safe prac­tice, and for those that are seated much of the day and look­ing for move­ment tech­niques that can be prac­tice through­out the work day. Qi Gong

Qi Gong is a won­der­ful al­ter­na­tive to reg­u­lar ex­er­cise and a gen­tle way to stay ac­tive. Prac­tic­ing Qi Gong is a safe way to strengthen the body, re­duce stress, im­prove sleep, lower blood pres­sure and im­prove bal­ance. This an­cient Chi­nese form of ex­er­cise links gen­tle move­ments, breath­ing ex­er­cises and med­i­ta­tion to cul­ti­vate, chan­nel and bal­ance vi­tal en­ergy to keep you healthy. CE­CIL COUNTY PARKS & RECRE­ATION Dog Obe­di­ence

Cer­ti­fied trainer Kathryn Boris will lead Level 1 train­ing at the Ris­ing Sun Com­mu­nity Cen­ter ev­ery Fri­day, from 6 — 7 pm. The next class will start in mid Au­gust. Six week pro­gram with a fo­cus on pos­i­tive re­in­force­ment to cor­rect and teach proper be­hav­ior. Dogs must be at least 16 weeks old. Cost is $110. Call 410656-5125 to regis­ter.

Mid­dle School

Field Hockey Fall League

League will be­gin with prac­tices start­ing the first week of school. Prac­tices will be held at mid­dle schools through­out the county. Games be played on Sun­day af­ter­noons from 1-4 pm at var­i­ous lo­ca­tions. 9 week sea­son. All par­tic­i­pants must pro­vide their own equip­ment; stick, mouth guard and shin guards. After The Bell

Pro­gram will be of­fered to stu­dents en­rolled in Bay View, Calvert and Ris­ing Sun El­e­men­tary Schools. Stu­dents will be bused from the three par­tic­i­pat­ing schools to Ce­cil Arena at dis­missal. The goal of the pro­gram is to pro­vide an af­ford­able, struc­tured, Sports and Arts club. After The Bell will run Mon­day — Fri­day each week start­ing the first day of school thru the end of the school year. Call 410-656-5125 to regis­ter or for more in­for­ma­tion.

Mid­dle School Movers Flag Foot­ball

Prac­tices will be held once a week, be­gin­ning the week of Septem­ber 17th at each mid­dle school. The fee for this pro­gram is $32 for the full 8 weeks. On the 4th week of play and again dur­ing the last week, stu­dents will be trans­ported by bus for a com­pe­ti­tion play date be­tween all Movers pro­grams at Calvert Re­gional Park. All ses­sions will be­gin im­me­di­ately after school and will con­clude promptly at 4:30 pm. Call 410-656-5125 to regis­ter or for more in­for­ma­tion.

Yoga

Mon­day and Thurs­day evenings be­gin­ning in Septem­ber, Heather Bouchelle and Kathy He­im­burger will in­struct Yoga classes at the Ris­ing Sun Com­mu­nity Cen­ter.

YMCA

YMCA Youth Bas­ket­ball Pro­gram

First come first serve only. Open spa­ces will fill up quickly. Play­ers are taught bas­ket­ball fun­da­men­tals and given the op­por­tu­nity to demon­strate their learned skills in games. All play­ers are placed on teams within their geo­graphic school lo­ca­tion.

No phone-in reg­is­tra­tions are ac­cepted. For stu­dents 1st through 8th grades.

Teams prac­tice once a week in their com­mu­nity and play an eight-game sched­ule at the YMCA. Ev­ery player will re­ceive a New YMCA Bas­ket­ball Re­versible tank top.

New “Run with the Big Dawgs” sea­son end­ing tour­na­ment will be free for the older boys and girls di­vi­sions!!

BAS­KET­BALL Ris­ing Sun Mid­dle School Bas­ket­ball Fundraiser

The Tigers team, com­prised of teach­ers, prin­ci­pals and ad­min­is­tra­tors from Ce­cil County Pub­lic Schools, lo­cal law en­force­ment and elected of­fi­cials will be tak­ing on the Har­lem Wiz­ards (some play­ers from the Har­lem Glo­be­trot­ters).

This fundraiser will take place at Ris­ing Sun High School on Fri­day, Oct. 19. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and the game starts at 6:30 p.m. There will be food trucks, Kona Ice, raf­fles and sou­venirs for pur­chase.
