Trio of Eagles finish 1-2-3 to capture Cecil County Invite
A trio of Bohemia Manor runners finished ahead of the field to deliver the Chesapeake City program a victory in the boys’ race at the Cecil County Cross Country Invitational Tuesday at Calvert Regional Park.
Senior Alex Longeway captured first place and his teammates Zachary Larid and Ryan Fitzwater followed as the group took first, second and third place and helped the Eagles to 24 total points —34 points ahead of runner-up Elkton.
Longeway finished in a time of 15:58, edging Laird by six seconds and Fitzwater by a little less than a minute. Colin Parker (18:22) took eighth and Jacob Jarrell (18:31) placed 10th to round out Bo Manor’s finishers.
Longeway, Laird and Parker all contributed to the team’s 1A state championship a year ago.
Perryville’s Brian Keenan (17:00) placed fourth, while Elkton’s Nolan Clancy (17:17), Cameron Spaeth (17:39) and Tyler Vega (17:57) captured fifth, sixth and seventh. Rising Sun’s Cade Milburn (18:29) earned ninth to round out the top 10.
The Panthers finished third with 68 points, Rising Sun placed four th with 78 points and North East ended in fifth with 129 points.
Cease, Horst shine at Cecil Invite
Similar to the final outcome at the Susquehanna Division Meet earlier this year, Rising Sun’s Emma Cease and Heather Horst once again finished atop the field.
This time, the duo finished within eight seconds of each other to help guide the Tigers to a team victory in the girls’ race at the Cecil County Cross County Invitational
at Calvert Regional Park on Tuesday.
Cease placed first in 20:01.53 and Horst captured second in 20:09.56 as the Tigers went on to win with 34 team points, edging runnerup Bohemia Manor by nine points.
Sadie Marra (20:51.16), Venus Abosede (21:18.67) and Esther Greenblatt (21:45.87) took third, fourth and fifth for Elkton, which earned third with 53 points. Brooke Ayers (21:51.16) captured sixth for North East, which did not place as a team.
The Eagles’ Reagan Goldsmith (22:00.66), Aubrey Preske (22:05.96) and Maya
Osborne placed seventh, eighth and 10th, while Rising Sun’s Hannah Matthews (22:18.38) took ninth.
Perryville, which finished with 81 points, was led by Gabriella Scramlin, who took 11th with a time of 22:44.80.
UCBAC Boys’ Soccer Bohemia Manor 4, Havre de Grace 1
Sophomore Logan Catron led the Eagles (4-3 overall, 3-1 Susquehanna) with a goal and two assists. Bean Bainbridge, Brandon Teixidor and Mikey Stetcher scored a goal apiece.
The Warriors fall to 0-9-1 overall and 0-6 in the lower division.
