John Berry brings 20th an­niver­sary O Holy Night Tour to Cal­houn’s Gem

For all his suc­cess in coun­try mu­sic, John Berry can credit a Christ­mas song for what may be his most en­dur­ing legacy.

Queu­ing up his stun­ning ren­di­tion of “O Holy Night,” the ti­tle track to his first hol­i­day al­bum in 1995, has be­come a tra­di­tion for many lis­ten­ers. Berry is re­ward­ing his fans with a 20th an­niver­sary O Holy Night Tour, which makes its sec­ond stop Saturday, Nov. 19, in Cal­houn, Ga.

“If ‘ O Holy Night’ is all that any­one re­mem­bers of me, that’s fine with me,” he says on his web­site. “It is a truly in­spired piece of mu­sic.”

Berry be­gan do­ing Christ­mas tours with the re­lease of “O Holy Night” and has is­sued three more Christ­mas col­lec­tions since: “My Heart Is Beth­le­hem” in 2000, “Cel­e­brate This Christ­mas” in 2005 and “Christ­mas” this year.

A singer and song­writer, Berry rose to star­dom on the coun­try charts in 1990 with such mega hits as “Your Love Amazes Me,” “Stand­ing on the Edge of Good­bye” and “She’s Taken a Shine.” Dur­ing his star-mak­ing decade, Berry placed 20 sin­gles on the county charts, six of which went Top 5.

He has earned mul­ti­ple gold and plat­inum records over the years, was nom­i­nated as the Acad­emy of Coun­try Mu­sic’s Top New Male Vo­cal­ist in 1994, was nom­i­nated for a Grammy in 1995 for “Your Love Amazes Me,” was nom- inated for the Coun­try Mu­sic As­so­ci­a­tion’s Hori- zon and Top Male Vo­cal­ist awards in 1995 and won a Grammy in 1996 for his par­tic­i­pa­tion in “Amaz­ing Grace: A Coun­try Salute to Gospel, Vol­ume 1.”


John Berry’s is mak­ing his 20th an­niver­sary O Holy Night Tour and has re­leased a new al­bum, “Christ­mas,” that in­cludes the peren­nial fa­vorite song.
