Beer pong, darts, cornhole in upcoming Bar Olympics
If you consider yourself the baroness of beer pong or the king of cornhole, Chattanooga Sports Leagues has a competition for you.
The third installment of the CSL’s Bar Olympics, a social sporting event, returns to the city’s nightlife on Tuesday, Nov. 29.
Geared toward young professionals, the fourweek competition pits teams against one another in a series of fun bar games. A team will consist of four players and must have a minimum of one female.
This season’s games include beer pong, darts and cornhole. A fourth is still to be determined.
“The Bar Olympics is an insanely fun experience that can’t be found anywhere else in Chattanoo- ga,” says Tommy Travers, owner of 3rd Deck Burger Bar, where the competitions will be held. “It is a great way to meet some other social young professionals — on a Tuesday.”
Chattanooga Sports Leagues is a local start-up that combines organized adult sports with fun social events for area young professionals. The organization has 4,300 members since its founding three and a half years ago, says spokeswoman Maddie Brown in a news release.
Leagues exist for a variety of sports, including basketball, bowling, dodgeball, flag football, kickball, soccer, softball, tennis, Ultimate Frisbee and volleyball.
In Bar Olympics, one event is played each week, with two play- in games followed by a single-elimi- nation tournament, according to Brown. Teams will accumulate points based on their weekly finish, and an overall winner will be declared after the fourth week.
Cost is $25 per player to join. Travers says 3rd Deck Burger Bar, located at the top of Pier 2 next to the Southern Belle, will have exclusive food and drink specials for league players.
“It’s the perfect way to break up the monotony of the workweek,” he says. “You’ll actually look forward to Tuesday coming around.”
There are a l i mited number of slots available. Teams can register at www. playcsl.com.
