Seven college choirs combine for Friday night concert
A College Choral Festival being held at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga will culminate with a free concert Friday, March 24, at 7:30 p.m. in the UTC Fine Arts Center, at Vine and Palmetto streets.
Dr. Kevin Ford says the concert will feature UTC’s Chattanooga Singers and Chamber Singers, Chattanooga State Community College Chorus, Cleveland State Community College Chorus, Northeast Alabama Community College Chorus, Dalton State Chorus and Southwest Virginia Community Chorus.
“Each group will perform one or two numbers individually, then we will all combine for 30 minutes of Roland Carter’s music,” says Ford. This segment of the concert is one of multiple musical events being held around the country in honor of Carter’s 75th birthday, says the director.
Carter is a retired UTC faculty member who was Holmberg Professor of American Music. He is a nationally known music composer and arranger.
