World Series of Comedy champ at Comedy Catch

Erik Knowles has been a bouncer at a comedy club, manager of The Comedy Palace and won the 2016 World Series of Comedy for his own standup style. He’ll be onstage at The Comedy Catch, 1400 Market St., today, May 25, through Sunday, May 28. He recalls his younger days in the Marines, boot camp and partying, and even a few war stories from his time with Oper- ation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom, then contrasts that with a witty look at his adult life full of responsibilities, fatherhood and his uncontrollable desire to challenge social stigmas. His comedy is refreshing and edgy without being filthy. Show times Friday and Sunday are 7:30 p.m., when tickets are $10; and 7: 30 or 9: 45 p. m. Friday and Saturday, when tickets are $15.
