First Friday reception opens In-Town exhibit

Chattanooga Times Free Press - ChattanoogaNow - - ARTS - STAFF REPORT

“Block By Block” describes the concept for In-Town Gallery’s February show. The new front-wall show will be revealed at the First Friday reception on Feb. 2 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the gallery, 26-A Frazier Ave.

“Block By Block” features 6-inch blocks made by a variety of methods and mediums, priced reasonably and all hung together without identification. Their surfaces range from designs painted on silk, hand-molded clay tiles and mounted photographs to a complete array of painted pieces. Fancy, funky, intricate and minimal styles vie for attention. Their creators will be in a festive mood trying to figure out who made each miniature.

This unique show was featured a few years ago and is back by popular demand. The block show is specifically priced to appeal to new collectors with discounts for multiple pieces. Bargain hunters can select one or pick several to form a grouping.
